Using a Patio Door Security Bar

There are very few homeowners that doesn’t like to have their houses decorated as such that it draws compliments from all their friends and family. Although a worthy goal, you should never do this at the cost of the safety of your home, family and friends. We all know that patio doors are available in a quite a varied range of different sizes, styles and shapes. Although they are extremely functional in creating a certain type of ambience in your room, they are slightly susceptible for break-ins by criminals.

Choosing a sliding door makes a lot of sense. They certainly do not take up alot of your patio’s area, and also aren’t interfering with the rest of your decor – that’s if you don’t want to! Many homes are vulnerable for forcefull entry through their sliding glass doors. Criminal know this.

Thank goodness that there is a solution to this. The probleam is easily solved with the use of sliding glass door security bars. These are both effective and low-priced tools which homeowners can easily use to prevent any further break-ins to their houses.

If you look at the the start of patio door security bars, it’s actually very interesting. Starting in about the Sixties, homeowners were confronted with very similar security issues. Some innovative homeowners started to cut their old broomsticks and placed it on the bottom railing of the sliding doors to prevent the door from sliding open. This is in effect the roots of the security bars that we encounter on the market nowadays. It’s not complex (rather straightforward actualy) and does the job well!

Of course in our time, the bars are significantly more superior than the broomsticks that homeowners used to use. First of all they are available in a variety of colors. I don’t know of any homeowner or decorator that actually uses psecurity bars for decoration. Having said that, it’s always a handy advantage for them to use the colors to ‘mingle’ with the rest of the room’s decor. To make sure that the bars can withstand any sort of force, it’s generally manufactured with heavy steel. Also the sliding glass security bar is generally adjustable to fit a number of different door sizes. This is made possible through a simple adjustable pin.

If you are trying to save a few bucks, this is will also be a real treat for you. Security bars are generally cheap compared to other household accessories, and will definitely not make a big hole in your pocket!
